The McSteen Team: Meet Kyle Danals

Kyle Danals, Professional Land Surveyor/Field Supervisor

A professional Land Surveyor and a Field Supervisor for McSteen for nearly a year, Kyle Danals credits his patience, perseverance, diligence and thoroughness among his personal qualities that help him do his job successfully.

Prior to joining McSteen, Kyle worked for a surveying and engineering company as a Professional Surveyor and Crew Chief performing ALTA Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Subsidence Surveys, Construction Layout, and As-Built Surveys.

As for joining McSteen, Kyle says he most enjoys the people with whom he works and the flexibility that the company offers. He says, “The work environment at McSteen is always positive and it encourages camaraderie and goodwill.”

Our employees are our greatest asset. They are what set us apart from the competition – and they are pretty cool, too! Meet Kyle…

How would your clients and/or colleagues describe you?

Honest, hardworking, understanding, and cooperative.

What are you listening to/reading/watching?

Listening to: Joe Bonamassa/Michael Hedges on my drive in to work.

Reading: I started reading Blazes, Posts & Stones by James L. Williams, but I have a young family and finding the time to read is difficult at times. I listened to Mr. Williams speak at several conferences and he is a very entertaining speaker. If you enjoy Ohio history this is a great book.

Watching: My one year old just started sleeping through the night (mostly), so my wife and I started watching a Sci-Fi series called The Expanse. It was slow to start, but it is starting to get very interesting.

What is your dream vacation?

Scotland. My ancestors were Scottish Highlanders and my wife’s ancestors were Welch. I also love links style golf and the “Home of Golf” is the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland. It’s always been a dream of mine to play that course.

How do you think McSteen is different from other land surveying companies?

Land Surveying is an aging profession. Professional Surveyors are becoming more difficult to find. McSteen has recognized this and instead of adopting a hands off approach, we are using innovation and education to address the growing demand and needs of our clients. McSteen also has goals of sharing some of this innovation with the entire surveying industry. This outward thinking is rare in a consulting company and I believe this sets McSteen apart.

What is your favorite thing about working at McSteen?

The people and the work flexibility. The work environment at McSteen is always positive and it encourages camaraderie and goodwill.

Tell us about your family.

I count myself lucky every day to have been blessed with my beautiful wife Elizabeth and our two daughters, Mary and Abigail.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I spend most of my free time playing with the kids. They are growing up incredibly fast and I don’t want to miss anything. Occasionally, I will get out my acoustic guitar or play some golf.
