With Gratitude

“Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other.”

Randy Pausch

At McSteen, we practice gratitude every day, and it seems more important than ever to not only practice it but to share it. During November’s National Gratitude Month, we want to take a moment to thank the amazing #McSteenTeam, our partners, and our clients.

Gratitude: The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

Oxford Dictionary

To be sure, practicing gratitude isn’t a cure for negative emotions. Rather practicing gratitude means focusing on the positives instead of worrying about the past, future, or what you lack. But why is gratitude important? Because it makes us feel good!

In fact, research confirms the neuroscience of gratitude and shows that the brain in gratitude is much like the brain in love. When we express thankfulness, our brain’s neural circuitry releases a cocktail of dopamine and serotonin, feel-good neurochemicals that foster optimism, camaraderie, willpower, and positive emotions.

“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues but the parent of all others.” – Roman philosopher Cicero

Beyond making us feel good, practicing gratitude actually makes us a better company, employer, and partner to our clients. Research on gratitude shows that when employees feel valued, they have high job satisfaction, engage in productive relationships, are motivated to do their best, and work towards achieving the company’s goals. That sounds like the McSteen Difference to us!

Rather than just talk about how we like to practice gratitude, we asked the McSteen leadership team to share their thoughts on what they are most grateful for this year:

Molly Woeste during Women's Small Business Month.

“We are always thankful for our clients, but even more so this past 18 months.  What a wild ride we’ve been on!  Our clients have challenged us, but also supported us.  They’ve been understanding of our shortcomings and appreciative of our “home runs” – those times we knocked it out of the park.  Most importantly, they’ve been our PARTNERS.  Every relationship is two-sided, and we are so grateful for the other side of ours.  Thank you for allowing us to service you, your team and your clients!” – Molly Woeste, President, McSteen

Maureen Feller during Women's Small Business Month.

“We could not service our clients without the amazing team that pours their heart and soul into this company every day.  Our team is family.  And it shows in the way they are dedicated to our work.  We tell them often, but it’s never enough – THANK YOU McSteen Team.  You make this machine run!” – Maureen Feller, COO, McSteen

“Opportunity is endless in this industry right now.  The way we do business has changed, the workload is there, and we’re adapting to meet new challenges and rising demand.  Technology and training are keeping us at the forefront.  But none of that matters without the two most important things – great clients and a great team.  We’ve got both.  And that’s certainly not lost on us.” – Kevin Woeste, CEO, McSteen
